Cuba - Block Party

Home

While most of our stay was in rural Cuba, we were treated to a wonderful block party in our honour by a neighborhood CDR in the City of Bayamo. As our bus arrived, we were met by crowds of people waving Cuban flags and flags of the 26th of July Movement. There were dancers, singers and a poet who recited a rousing patriotic piece for us. Little children gave us roses and flags and a kiss on the cheek. Tables was spread with many kinds of fruits, salads, sandwiches and desserts. And a icy thick sweet mango juice that was most delicious!  Then the band started playing and the dancing started in ernest. And the rum flowed like water!
