Some people would like us to believe that there are cronic food
shortages all over Cuba. The following photos clearly show that
this is not the case. Markets like this one in Habana are similar
to those around the country where local produce - grown without
pesticides - are available to the people. The markets are lively
places and they are the heart of the neighbourhoods. The fruits
and vegetables are picked at the peak of ripeness and enjoyed in
season. Because it is grown locally, the produce does not require
transportation over thousands of miles as it does in North America.
