Visit to the Cupaynicu Botanical Garden

Located less than 20km from Bayamo, the Cupaynicu Botanical Gardens covers a little more than 100 hectares where over 2000 species of plants having economic or scientific value are grown. Growing here are mohogany, cedar and linden trees plus a wide variety of palm trees. Even a palm that forms a small olive-like fruit that is used to make soap. Ever heard of Palmolive brand soap?

More than 300 varieties of medicinal plants are grown, some which are used in the traditional Green Medicine Laboratories in the province. As well, almost 100 varieties of cactus can be found here.
