The childhood home of Frank Pais, a
hero of the Revolution. Pais was a student leader at the
University
of Santiago and supported Fidel Castro. When Fidel left Cuba to
train his small rebel army in Mexico,
he made Pais the head of M-26-7 "action groups" (cells) in Cuba.
Until Fidel returned, Pais was
the leader of the underground movement on the island.
Pais was assasinated by Batista's police on July 30, 1958. He
was only 23 when he died. His brother
had been killed only a month earlier.
